As you stand around your loved ones, waiting for the clock to strike 12,
You begin to reminisce, to ponder, and, your heart starts to swell.
From January up until December 31st,
Life has thrown you a million curve balls, given you it's worst.
Yet, in this very moment, where change supposedly ensues,
You also remember the good times, where there was nothing you stood to lose.
At 10 seconds to 12 you've gottten to the lovesick bits of the year.
The times where "She loves me, she loves me not" were your biggest fear.
At 8 seconds to 12, you're reminded of school but, you quickly put that thought away,
Because, you'd give anything to delay that return, even for just a day.
Now it's 5 seconds to 12 and you rejoin the present, hearing your family countdown,
And, as that last second goes by, and 12AM hits, you commit to new beginnings as one does a crown.
And so, there it is, the moment is finally over,
And as party horns go off, happiness seems just that much closer.
And so you rid yourself of the anxieties that you once held dear,
Because after all it's "New Year, New Me",
